Data & Digital is responsible for providing reliable steering and accountability information to DHA's management and franchisees, along with monitoring and managing the application landscape with associated IT driven areas. Data & Digital is responsible for achieving Hypotheker's ambition: the realization of a Data Driven Organization.


The goal of this team is to interweave IT and Data capabilities and expertise to make choices on technology that are data driven, but also ensure that data driven choices can always be supported technologically.


The discipline includes both data driven topics (Data Engineering including Data warehousing, Business Intelligence, Data Governance & Management and Data Innovation/Data Science) and IT governance driven topics (functional application management, Infra monitoring, Security monitoring, Access Management, Architecture and IT quality & control).


Core and purpose of the position

The Data Management Specialist ensures that the organization grows, and remains secured, in its maturity around the four pillars:

1. Data Governance

2. Data Management

3. Data Culture

4. Data Retention


The Data Management Specialist is also expected to ensure compliance with these pillars within the organization and to monitor progress. A secondary task of the specialist is to support and assist the Data Engineer where necessary to ensure that no key person risk arises within the Data Warehouse domain.

Organizational Position

The Data Management Specialist receives hierarchical guidance from the Head of Data & Digital. The position is fulfilled independently within frameworks.

Result areas


Result 1: Data Governance
Data governance includes establishing policies and procedures to achieve the accuracy, reliability, integrity and security of data.


Associated core activities:

- Establish and update an organization wide Data Governance Framework
- Clear Roles & Responsibilities around data governance and management
- A crystal clear Data Policy as guidelines for further Data Governance and Management set-up
- Data Delivery Agreements with internal and external parties where necessary at a level in line with the size and complexity of the organization
- Clear understanding around Data Sourcing to ensure data quality from source to product/service

Result 2: Data Management
Data management is the practice of collecting, organizing and accessing data to support productivity, efficiency and decision-making.

Associated Core Activities:
- Managing a clear Data Architecture in line with Business and IT Architecture.
- Setting up DataFlow Charts to manage data from source to product/service
- Ownership for the Business Glossary & Data
- Establish and manage Metadata management across the organization
- Ensure compliance with the Control Framework within the organization to eliminate or mitigate risks.
- Set up (using tooling) Data Lineage to ensure a clear audit trail.

Result 3: Data Culture

A data culture consists of the collective behaviors and beliefs of people who use data to make better decisions and value it, make better decisions, and who value and encourage this.

Associated Core Activities:
- Learning around data within the central DHA organization.
- Learning about data for all Franchisees and consultants
- Securing Data Awareness within the entire De Hypotheker organization
- Help realize a Self Service BI environment with the BI specialists
- Ensuring Data Trust from perception and also in line with laws and regulations.

Outcome 4: Data Retention

Data retention is (strictly speaking) the preservation of data.

Associated Core Activities:
- Data Retention Policy in line with the organization wide Retention Policy.

- Manage, monitor and improve the Process, Quality and Controls around data
- Ensure that always within the Application landscape the data perspective is safeguarded
- Implementing Remediation to get data retention to the desired standard
- Continuous Retention to realize that the desired standard is met in the future.

Result 5: Stakeholder management

Basically mapping stakeholders, such as: staff, customers, suppliers and ultimate managers and managing their expectations.

Associated core activities:
- Builds relationships with departments in order to achieve data management objectives within De Hypotheker.
- Builds and maintains relationships with the other teams both within DHA and within the group.
- Encourages and facilitates group-wide (Quion, BTG, DMPM) data sharing and utilization.

Job requirements

Knowledge and experience

- HBO+/WO working and thinking level

- Analytical education, such as Econometrics, Quantitative Business Economics or (technical) Business Administration

- State of the art knowledge of data analysis/science applications (SQL, Reporting Dashboarding, MS Excel, R etc.)

- At least 5 years of relevant work experience

- Knowledge of Data Management frameworks, e.g. DAMA DMBOK

- Knowledge of the financial services market and financial products
