POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION

As a Release Manager, you are part of the Product Operations team and report to the Head of Product Operations. Although you do not have direct reports, you work directly and indirectly with the Product Teams, (internal) suppliers, and other stakeholders involved in releases.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As a Release Manager, you organize and coordinate the software release chain within the Quion Service Platform and the associated (internal) suppliers that influence it. You are the key player in ensuring that releases proceed smoothly and efficiently. Managing the OTA environment is your core skill. You focus on quality and ensure that you have complete control over all software and infrastructure deliveries to the production environment. The IT platform is transitioning to a cloud environment, and your knowledge and experience with cloud environments make you a key player in this transition.

RESULT AREAS AND ACTIVITIES

  1. Release Management


    • Plan and coordinate functional and infrastructural releases of the platform and associated parties.
    • Direct the platform organization and internal suppliers concerning the release process.
    • Report on the progress and quality of releases to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Forecast and prioritize future releases for optimal release yield.
    • Develop and manage the release calendar and release notes for internal and external users.
  2. Quality Assurance


    • Ensure changes are tested and documented according to test routes.
    • Verify agreed quality levels and take risk management measures.
    • Maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  3. Process Monitoring and Formation


    • Direct developments within the SDLC chain in a process-oriented manner.
    • Initiate improvement initiatives within the release process, such as the further development of the CI/CD pipeline.
  4. Environment Management


    • Coordinate technical fallback procedures.
    • Manage the OTA environments and the corresponding calendar.
    • Advise the Product Support Team on the required scope of the OTA environments.

Job requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • HBO level of education and thinking.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in software development, release management, test management, or project management.
  • Experience with software delivery and releasing in on-premise and public cloud environments (preferably Microsoft Azure).
  • Knowledge of and experience with test frameworks and management techniques.
  • Experience in functionally managing teams in a complex IT environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean methods and tools for customer-oriented and entrepreneurial execution of activities.
