Job description

Who are we?

Quion is one of the largest mortgage servicing providers in the Netherlands. We manage mortgage and consumer credit portfolios on behalf of leading national and international financial institutions. Through technology, innovation and operational excellence, we help our clients deliver outstanding services to their customers.

To support our continued growth, we are expanding our Porto Quality Engineering and Test Enablement capability and are looking for a QA Engineer to join our Porto office.

What will you do?

As a QA Engineer, you combine the responsibilities of a QA Engineer and Test Specialist in one broad role. You support development teams and value streams with functional testing, technical testing, test automation and quality engineering activities.

You help ensure quality throughout the software delivery lifecycle by analysing requirements and risks, designing and executing tests, building reusable automation and integrating quality controls into CI/CD pipelines. In addition, you contribute to continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, coaching colleagues and helping teams adopt consistent testing practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse requirements, user stories and risks to define effective test coverage and testing strategies.

  • Design, execute and document functional, integration, end-to-end and regression tests.

  • Develop, maintain and improve automated tests and reusable automation frameworks.

  • Perform API, front-end, technical and cross-domain testing activities.

  • Support performance, load and stress testing and analyse test results.

  • Manage test data and contribute to reliable test environments.

  • Integrate automated tests, quality gates and reporting into Azure DevOps pipelines.

  • Identify, analyse and follow up defects, including root cause analysis where needed.

  • Provide insight into quality risks, test status, automation coverage and release readiness.

  • Coach colleagues and promote consistent testing standards, automation practices and quality engineering principles.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of tooling, test processes, environments and reporting.

This is you

You are passionate about software quality and enjoy combining analytical thinking with hands-on testing and automation. You take ownership, challenge assumptions and proactively identify risks before they become issues. You enjoy collaborating with developers, Product Owners and QA colleagues and are always looking for opportunities to improve quality, increase automation and reduce manual effort. Through your expertise and pragmatic approach, you help teams deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.

Job requirements

What do you need for this position?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional level in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or another relevant technical field.

  • 5 years of experience designing and maintaining automated test solutions.

  • Experience in software testing and test automation, including test design, test execution and maintenance of automated tests.

  • Experience with reusable, compliant test data and test environment management.

  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman or similar tooling.

  • Hands-on experience with front-end test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, FitNesse or comparable solutions.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automated quality controls.

  • Experience with Agile ways of working such as Scrum, Kanban and/or SAFe.

  • Ability to apply risk-based testing and clearly communicate quality risks and test results.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with performance, load, stress testing and JMeter experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with reusable, compliant test data and test environment management.

  • Knowledge of risk-based testing and structured methods such as ISTQB and/or TMap.

  • Experience within financial services, fintech or other regulated environments.
