To support our continued growth, we are expanding our international IT Infrastructure team and are looking for a SQL Server DBA to join our Porto office.

What will you do?

The SQL Server DBA is responsible for the design, strategic management and continued development of the SQL Server and Azure SQL infrastructure. You safeguard the performance, security and scalability of the data environment and lead migrations and innovation in cloud technology, automation and governance. You act as the key liaison between database suppliers and the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable, secure and highly available database platforms

• Lead cloud database initiatives, including Azure SQL and managed database services

• Implement disaster recovery, monitoring and cost optimization strategies

• Automate database deployment and management using infrastructure-as-code tools

• Ensure database security through encryption, auditing and access controls

• Support data governance, compliance and security remediation activities

• Provide technical ownership of database platforms and standards

• Review database designs and SQL code to ensure quality and performance

• Coach colleagues and share knowledge on database technologies and best practices

• Drive continuous improvement of database architecture, operations and reliability

What do you need for this position ?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Technology or a related field

• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in complex IT environments

• Strong knowledge of Azure SQL, Azure networking, security and automation

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) or equivalent

• Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, PowerShell and DevOps tooling

• Experience migrating SQL Server environments to Azure

• Experience with database monitoring, backup and recovery strategies

• Experience with performance tuning and query optimisation

• Knowledge of Identity and Access Management, including Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID

• Experience with hybrid Azure SQL and SQL Server environments

• Hands-on experience with SQL Server Management Studio, Azure Portal, PowerShell and Azure CLI

• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps ways of working

• Ability to independently design, implement, manage and monitor database environments

• Strong understanding of English, with a minimum B2 level

Nice to have:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)

• Knowledge of T-SQL and additional automation tools

• Experience leading technical discussions and providing guidance on database architecture and platform challenges

• Dutch language skills are considered a very strong advantage
